Finding your Purpose
Do you ever feel like something is missing from your life? You know you are meant for more than just sitting at a desk all day. You dream of doing something to make a real difference, something that has meaning.
You're not alone. Many of us are walking through life trying to find purpose. For most of my twenties I felt like something was missing and I looked for it wherever I could - in relationships, in my career, even in the bottom of a bottle of Pinot Grigio. I filled out quizzes and analysed my strengths to try and figure out what on earth I was really meant to be doing with my life.
There is a lot of talk about finding your purpose on the web, and most of the time it relates to career choices. But what if I told you that your true purpose has nothing to do with the work you do? What if I told you that finding your purpose is actually really simple?
What if I told you that your one and only purpose is... to just be you?
To follow what lights you up and live from your heart.
Actually, in all honesty, it's not an easy task. Often who we really are is deeply buried and discovering our authentic self takes work. It means peeling back all the layers of doubt, expectation, judgment. It means fully embracing and accepting all the parts of ourself. It means having the courage to follow what lights you up, to say no to all the things you feel you should do because it's what is expected of you. It's means getting outside of your comfort zone.
When you do - that's when the magic happens. You are here not just to exist, but to thrive. To live a life you love. To be free to flourish.
It starts with rediscovering who you are at your core. What you value, what sets your soul on fire. Then you release what's not serving you and make space for what you really desire. And now comes the fun part - you start to follow what lights you up. Don't worry about the end result, just lean into the things that make you feel good and see where it takes you.
When you live from the space of being your authentic self, you have complete freedom to create a life you love.
Let me ask you a question to get you started... if you knew you only had a year to live, what would you do? What would you really do? (My guess is all of those obligations and things you do 'just because' would go out of the window).
It's time to come back home to yourself.
