My personal ceremonial Cacao recipe
I get asked a lot how I make my Cacao so I thought I’d pout together a super quick post to share the recipe I use.
What is ceremonial cacao?
Many people are familiar with Cacao powder, it’s become known as a popular superfood in recent years or a healthy alternative to the chocolate bars of our childhood- but it’s still highly processed to remove the bean’s natural fat (cacao butter). This means that enzymes, healthy fat and most of the subtle energetic properties of cacao have been destroyed.
Ceremonial Cacao is Cacao in it’s purest form. It’s pure plant medicine for the body, soul and spirit and has been used by ancient mesoamerican civilizations for thousands of years in ceremony and celebration.
What are the benefits of Cacao?
Raw Cacao beans contain 10 grams of flavonol antioxidants per 100 grams, which is an incredible 10%. Research has also demonstrated that the antioxidants in cacao are highly stable and easily available to human metabolism.
Magnesium helps increase energy, calms nerves, aids in digestion, and relieves muscle aches and pains (among a whole host of other benefits). Magnesium plays a key role in producing energy for the neurons in the brain from glucose. So when there is an abundance of magnesium the brain works with clarity and focus.
Cacao is a source of Serotonin (the happy chemical), Phenylethylamine (love chemical), Anandamide (bliss chemical) and Dopamine (feel-good chemical). These 4 neurotransmitters are associated with feelings of well being and help alleviate depression.
